Nicknamed the « Black Angel » of Afro Peruvian music, Baca mixes African rhythms and Caribbean harmonies. The result is a magnificent anthology of new and traditional songs that open up the forgotten world of Afro-Peruvian music. Born in a coastal fishing village in 1944, Baca has released ten albums. In 2002, she won a Latin Grammy Award for her 2001 album Lamento Negro. Her latest release is Travesias, brought out in 2006.
